Editorial policy

What we check, what we publish and how we show our sources.

Research and attribution

We use official business websites for published services and contact details. Government and regulatory sources support legal and permit information. Sources appear with each guide, and source-check dates appear with each article. Bylines identify Toronto Reviewer as the publication responsible for the article. A qualified professional review is identified only when that review has actually taken place; no professional reviewer is implied by the publication byline.

Guides, reviews and comparisons

Our collection contains practical guides and comparisons based on public-source research. An editorial review requires supported evaluation. We do not publish independently tested business ratings.

Provider comparisons check service relevance, published location or service area, and public information that can be compared consistently. Alphabetical or reading order is not a quality ranking unless a guide explicitly presents an editorial order. App comparisons explain their criteria and compare published features. An editorial recommendation is specific to the stated buying brief; list order is not a measured customer rating or universal quality ranking. We do not invent scores, testimonials, visits or interviews.

Commercial relationships

Toronto Reviewer is committed to fair, unbiased coverage and to upholding journalistic integrity in every piece. We do not accept endorsements in exchange for higher rankings or more favourable business reviews.

Our editorial standards call for assessments based on stated criteria and supported information. Toronto Reviewer has no sponsors. When the publisher specifies the order of a list, it must be identified as an editorial selection rather than an independently measured ranking.

Images and charts

Illustrations accompany our guides and are not evidence of a named business’s work. Research charts are calculated from the sources and methods identified in each paper. Images use descriptive alternative text and responsive formats.

Corrections and updates

Source checks are recorded with the content. A changed date should reflect a substantive review, not an automatic refresh. Legal, permit and business contact information should be checked before readers act. Our contact and corrections page explains the current enquiry routes.
